A customer approached us with a challenge they were facing across their hardware product lifecycle. As their products evolved through multiple engineering changes, BOM revisions, manufacturing builds, and field deployments, keeping track of the complete product history was becoming increasingly difficult.
Their teams had the information they needed, but it was spread across different files, systems, and records. The challenge was no longer simply storing product information it was being able to connect that information and quickly understand the history of a specific product or configuration. The customer needed better visibility into how their products changed from engineering through manufacturing and into the field.
When an issue occurred, teams had to spend significant time identifying:
- Which BOM revision was used?
- Which components and suppliers were involved?
- Which firmware version was deployed?
- What engineering changes were made?
- Which products or devices were affected?
