AI transformation, smart elevators

AI Transformation for Smart Elevator Companies: Every Call Connected to the Lift

RNDSquare connects AI agents to your elevator IoT platform and to the controllers in the buildings you serve. The agent verifies who is calling, sees the lift's live status and fault history, dispatches the right technician with the right parts, and turns every breakdown into data for maintenance planning, warranty and spares.

The problem

Why elevator service still runs on phone calls and guesswork

A building manager calls: the lift in Block B has stopped. The call centre logs it, a technician drives out, and only on site does anyone learn it was a door fault that has happened four times this month. The same building calls again next week.

Most elevator companies already collect some data, through remote monitoring, controller logs or service records. But the person answering the phone cannot see it, the technician gets it too late, and nobody connects it to contracts, warranty claims or spare parts. The data exists. It just does not reach the conversation.

The loop

AI, elevator IoT and the controller working as one

01

Ask

A building manager, facility team, resident or technician calls or sends a WhatsApp message.

02

Verify

The AI agent authenticates them on the live call or chat and checks which buildings and lifts they are responsible for.

03

Read

It sees the lift's live status: in service or not, car position, door state, current fault code and recent history.

04

Act

It dispatches a technician, updates the building's display messages or schedules a maintenance window, within the limits you set.

05

Learn

The call, the fault data and the repair flow into the knowledge base, service records, warranty and analytics.

Safety

Safety comes first, always

Emergency alarms from inside a lift car always go to your human rescue service, as remote alarm rules such as EN 81-28 require. The AI never takes that role. What it does is support the people who do: the moment an alarm comes in, it pulls the car position, door state and fault code, gives the operator that information, and starts finding the nearest available technician.

The AI also never touches safety functions. Brakes, door locks, safety circuits and rescue operations stay with the certified controller and qualified technicians.

Where AI adds value

Where AI adds value across your elevator business

Breakdown calls answered with live lift data

When a building manager reports a lift out of service, the agent already knows why: a door fault on floor 6, a power interruption, or a technician already on the way with an arrival time. It answers in seconds, in the caller's language, and only raises a new job when there is not one already.

Technician dispatch and field support

Jobs are created with the lift's fault history, likely cause and parts needed, and sent to the nearest qualified technician. On site, the technician can ask the agent by voice, hands free, for the fault code meaning, wiring notes or the procedure for that controller model, and close the job by voice when done.

Maintenance contract sales and renewals

The agent reminds building owners before annual maintenance contracts end, explains plan options and books renewal meetings. When a lift's fault rate keeps climbing, it flags it as a modernisation opportunity with the data to back the proposal.

New installation enquiries

For new projects, it collects the building type, number of floors, capacity, shaft details and timeline, books a site survey and passes a complete brief to your sales engineers.

A knowledge base built from every repair

Manuals per controller model, fault code explanations, safety procedures and fixes that worked are kept in one place, in several languages. Every completed job becomes a draft entry for your team to approve, so experience is not lost when a senior technician retires.

Warranty and component claims with evidence

For door operators, drives, controller boards and other covered parts, the agent checks the serial number, installation date and fault history before a claim is raised. Claims are tagged by component, batch and supplier, so you can hold suppliers to account with real data.

Production, spares and van stock

For manufacturers, production test results are tied to each controller serial number. For service companies, spare parts forecasts use real wear data: door cycles, trips and fault rates per building. Rollers, belts, contacts and boards are stocked where they will be needed, and each technician's van carries the parts their next jobs are likely to need.

Predictive maintenance

Door systems are one of the most frequent sources of lift faults, and they show warning signs first: opening times creeping up, more re-openings, levelling errors, rising motor current. The loop watches those signals and schedules a visit before the lift stops, during a quiet hour the building agrees to.

Reports for building owners

Uptime, response times, fault history and maintenance records are available to verified building owners any time, by WhatsApp, email or in a monthly report, ready for audits and inspections.

Security

Controlled access and live authentication

Verification on the live call or chat

A one-time code before building or contract details are shared.

Role-based access

A building manager sees their own lifts, a technician sees the lifts on their jobs, a manufacturer sees its own installed base.

Guardrails against manipulation

Instructions hidden in messages are treated as plain text, never as commands.

Full audit trail

Every lookup, dispatch and action is recorded.

Control

Control back to the lift, only where it is safe

5Gateway firmware updateUpdate the IoT gateway, never the safety controllerHuman approval, outside peak hours

Safety functions, rescue operations and controller safety firmware are never controlled by the AI.

Retrofit

Bringing older lifts into the loop

Not every lift in your portfolio is connected. RNDSquare designs IoT gateways that read status and fault information from controllers through their service ports or signal contacts, and send it over 4G or the building network. Older lifts join the same loop as new ones, without replacing the controller.

Intelligence

From service calls to portfolio intelligence

The loop joins what usually lives apart: controller events, trips and door cycles, service calls, technician notes, parts used, contracts and warranty claims. Together they show which lifts will fail next, which components and suppliers cause the most callbacks, which buildings are ready for modernisation, and how many technicians and spares each region really needs.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does AI transformation mean for an elevator company?

+

Connecting AI agents to your lifts, monitoring platform and business systems, so breakdown calls, dispatch, contracts, warranty and spares run on live lift data.

Does the AI answer emergency alarms from inside the lift?

+

No. Emergency alarms always go to your human rescue service. The AI supports that team with live lift data and technician dispatch.

Can the AI control the elevator?

+

Only non-safety functions, such as display messages, planned maintenance windows and comfort settings within the manufacturer's limits. Safety functions are never touched.

Can it work with lifts from different manufacturers?

+

Yes, through your monitoring platform or through IoT gateways that read each controller's status and fault information.

Can older lifts be connected?

+

Yes. We design gateways that connect to existing controllers, so older lifts can join without a controller replacement.

How does it help technicians?

+

It sends them jobs with fault history and likely parts, and answers their questions by voice on site, hands free.

Where do we start?

+

With a readiness workshop, then one agent for breakdown call handling before expanding.

Answer every breakdown call with the lift's own data.
