
Smart Elevator Monitoring & Predictive Maintenance System
Elevator service providers and building maintenance teams need continuous visibility of elevator health, operating status, and fault conditions to reduce downtime and improve service response. Traditional maintenance depends heavily on manual inspections and customer complaints, which can delay fault identification and increase elevator downtime.
The requirement was to build a system that could collect elevator data from the controller and related interfaces, send the data to a cloud platform, display live status, generate alerts, store historical data, and support faster maintenance decisions.
We developed a smart elevator monitoring solution with a custom IoT monitoring card, embedded firmware, 4G connectivity, and the ElevatorLive cloud monitoring platform.
The monitoring card connects with the elevator controller through RS485 Modbus and also supports RS232 / TTL communication, digital inputs, relay output, RTC, battery backup option, and offline data storage. The device sends elevator data to the cloud platform using MQTT over 4G connectivity.
The ElevatorLive platform provides role-based access for admin, service engineers, and customers. It includes live elevator monitoring, map view, fault and warning alerts, parameter settings, maintenance support, historical reports, and data export in Excel, graph, and PDF formats.
The final solution enables elevator operators and service teams to monitor elevators remotely from a centralized dashboard. Service engineers can identify faults earlier, understand the issue before visiting the site, and respond faster with better preparation.
The system also stores historical elevator data, helping teams analyze running time, usage patterns, faults, warnings, and maintenance requirements. This creates a strong foundation for predictive maintenance and future service automation.
