Smart Sugarcane Harvester Monitoring System
Sugarcane harvester operators had no onboard visibility on machine health, leading to unpredictable failures and costly downtime during harvest season.
No real-time monitoring of engine RPM, hydraulic pressure, temperature, or fuel levels.
Fleet managers couldn't track harvester locations or performance from the operations center.
Equipment failures arrived without warning, making maintenance purely reactive.
A complete monitoring system was built with a 7-inch industrial touchscreen HMI installed directly in the operator cab, connected to RPM sensors, hydraulic pressure transducers, PT100 temperature sensors, and fuel level inputs, all wired into a central monitoring controller.
Operators could see live readings for every parameter at a glance, with threshold-based alerts instantly flagging any out-of-range conditions before they escalated. A GNSS receiver tracked each harvester's exact real-time position across the farm, while a 4G LTE module continuously transmitted all telemetry data to a cloud-based fleet management portal, with local buffering to ensure no data was lost in low-coverage field areas.
Fleet managers could log into the portal to view all harvesters on a live map, monitor machine health status with overlay indicators, and manage alerts from a single centralized dashboard, giving the operations team full visibility to spot problems early and prevent costly breakdowns during harvest season.
Real-time monitoring gave operators the visibility as they needed to catch issues early, before they turn into failures. Maintenance teams received automated alerts, helping them respond faster and planed which makes work more effectively.
Fleet managers finally had a single, clear view of every harvester's location and health in one portal. The result was a smarter, more reliable operation where data-driven decisions replaced guesswork, keeping machines running through the most critical periods of the harvest season.
