Lift Load and Wind Speed Monitor

Overloading and high winds are the two most common causes of crane accidents yet most lift sites had no integrated system to monitor both in real time. Operators estimated load weights manually and used handheld wind meters that gave no warning when conditions were approaching unsafe limits. There was no display visible to lift supervisors on site, no alarm when thresholds were breached, and no logged record of load and wind conditions for post-lift safety review or regulatory compliance.

We built an integrated safety monitoring system that measures crane hook load via a calibrated load cell amplifier and live wind speed via an anemometer displaying both values simultaneously on a large-format, high-visibility LED safety display. The display uses color-coded zone indicators - green, yellow, and red. So lift supervisors can assess safety status at a glance without interpreting numbers. When either load or wind exceeds configurable thresholds, an audible buzzer and strobe alarm activates immediately. Every load and wind event is logged to local flash storage and exportable via USB, giving lift safety teams a complete record for post-lift review and regulatory compliance submissions.
